Mechanics Hall in Worcester was the food filled scene of Worcester’s Best Chef Competition 2015 on Sunday, January 25. Food, wine and beer tastings, cooking demos, chatting with the chefs and the Iron Chef competition made for a fun winter evening.
One of the exciting results of this competitive night was that Flying Rhino won 1st place in the People’s Choice voting with a WooFood certified paparadelle zucchini over a carrot, sweet potatoes and parsnips mash topped by braised duck legs with hoisin glaze. (note – the judges were served the duck legs and all of the foodies had a variation that substituted braised beef for the duck in order to accommodate the large quantity being prepared for the event).
Kudos to Chef Christopher O'Hara, Paul Barber, owner and the entire Flying Rhino team for creating a delicious dish with healthful components! Paparadelle zucchini provided great texture and color as a healthful replacement for traditional pasta. The long zucchini ribbons topped with the nutrient-rich flavorful carrots, sweet potatoes and parsnips made a great base for a perfect portion of tender hoisin glazed beef.
The team at Flying Rhino loves to create dishes with just enough twist to temp the palate. They are a strong supporter of WooFood and offer a variety of WooFood certified options on their menu. Stop by Flying Rhino at 278 Shrewsbury Street in Worcester to congratulate them on their latest culinary award and try one of the healthful WooFood options that not only is good for you but meets the very important criteria that “it tastes good!”
